Julie's non - negotiables for winter wellness
A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER, JULIE ELLIOTT:
Winter is a time to go inward and take advantage of the shorter days and longer nights with greater attention to our body-mind-spirit through hydrotherapy, self-massage, and overall awareness of immune support.
When it comes to immune function, it starts with the lymph. And the bulk of my regimens happen at night.
If you haven't already, this is the perfect time of year to re-commit to the 4-2-4. For best results, aim for 3 to 4 nights per week. The practice of the 4-2-4 increases blood flow and lymphatics (1/3 of the lymphatics exist in the face and neck) through copious amounts of massage and alternating of warm/cold water. Nothing improves your skin and brings it back into balance faster than this regimen, whether dry or congested. If the 4-2-4 is new to you, see the step-by-step guidelines here. In the morning, I splash my face with warm and cold water and then proceed to layer.
My non-negotiables for layering morning and evening start with Fleur Vibrante Serum Cerate, then Complexe de Fleur, and Vis Clair Suprême. (And, for those who have been patiently waiting, Veloutée is coming back next year.) From there, I assess my skin, and if I need more moisture or protection for the day ahead, I will apply another layer or occlusive such as Créme de Fleur or Fleur Vibrante Balm. In colder climates, I will add 3 to 5 drops of Calme Face Oil Concentré to the Complexe de Serum as added protection from cold air.
For hydrotherapy, I perform dry-brushing in the morning followed by a quick contrast shower of alternating hot/cold water (read more here). Depending on my mood, I will anoint with a botanical solution or body balm. I'm motivated by scent and select based on how I feel. My current obsessions are Calendula Solution and Shevanti Body Balm. The balm provides longer-lasting hydration, so I usually opt for balm application in the morning and a botanical solution in the evening post-bath.
Evenings after the 4-2-4, I jump into a bath—my go-to is sea salt and baking soda up to 4 nights per week to detox, neutralize the effects of radiation, and move the lymph. I always have a liter of water with me to stay hydrated. And follow with full-body Calendula Solution, or Firmante for the legs, hips, abdomen, and sometimes the arms.
And yes, the tinctures are crucial to my regimen as they are designed to address stress through resilience, immune support, and lymphatics. I take 15 drops of the Adapt'Âscend and Immun-Attune both morning and evening in a small amount of water—like a shot glass, hold in my mouth for 30 seconds to start absorption through the mucous membranes of the mouth before swallowing. As for Lâche-Lymphe, I take 20 drops 2 to 3 times a day after meals. I also add Lâche-Lymphe to water to sip while bathing and even during flights.
Warmly,
