Olfactory Nostalgia with Whitney Olschwanger
PATCHOULI
At In Fiore, we believe the skin is a sense organ and scent initiates healing. Olfactory Nostalgia is a look at medicinal triggers, scented memories, and the feelings that ensue when taking in a distinct ingredient.
Meet Whitney Olschwanger, the Los Angeles-based personal shopper, stylist, and newly minted brand founder of TRE VOCI. While a fan of storied fashion brands, Whitney also advocates for and introduces her clients to up and coming companies that are doing things differently. A similar ethos that she’ll inject into TRE VOCI.
“A fragrance truly can become a huge part of who you are as a person and it can grow someone’s level of confidence and overall awareness within themselves."

Name:
Whitney Olschwanger
What & Where:
I am a Personal Shopper/Stylist, Brand Consultant, and I am about to launch my own brand called TRE VOCI. I’m based in Los Angeles, but work with clients globally.
Ingredient:
Patchouli
Olfactory Nostalgia:
The memory that comes to mind is traveling. I have always loved getting out of bed in a new country and exploring the area around me. Last summer, I stayed at a bed and breakfast in Lake Como after a trip to Milan and Paris for Fashion Week. Every day I’d wake up to a cappuccino and the most delicious croissant I’ve ever had in my life and sit outside and look at the beautiful lake. Then, I’d take a walk down to the lake to decide what I was going to do for the day. It was absolutely magical and a lot of the reason I chose an Italian name for my brand. The smell of Patchouli reminds me of discovery, travel, and the outdoors.
Perfumery as Medicine:
Perfume, to me, should be all about how you feel and what makes you happy—very similar to clothing. Depending on the mood I’m in and what kind of day I’m having will determine the type of scent I wear. Scents are also very important to me when it comes to my significant other, as I feel like they can deepen a connection within two people. In 2015 I relaunched the Helmut Lang scent and went to every Barneys (RIP:() in the country in 2 weeks. I learned so much about different fragrances, how to mix fragrances, and what I loved and didn’t like on my skin. A fragrance truly can become a huge part of who you are as a person and it can grow someone’s level of confidence and overall awareness within themselves.
