Full Body Oiling
The Ayurvedic Practice of Full Body Oiling
In Sanskrit, the word Ayurveda means the ‘science of life’. This is really the core of how In Fiore was started. In our case, the nature all of our things is in the oil, and our clients rely on the health benefits of a daily oil practice. And it’s not hard to do with us; over 80% of our product offerings are oil-based making it easy to incorporate the age old philosophies of Ayurveda into your everyday dosha balance.
First off, why oils? Founder Julie Elliott is an entrepreneur obsessed with her craft and took to Ayurveda when creating her line of crafted oil-based botanical solutions and body balms. She says, “Oils are lipophilic, meaning they pass through the lipid layer of the skin faster, preventing water loss and plumping the skin while improving skin tolerance and providing free-radical protection. Oils are also ideal carriers for delivering nutritive essences deep into the skin to the collagen-producing cells.”
Moreover, our body care essentials have unique aromas lending sensorial and psychospiritual properties for a fully integrated mind body experience. Essential oils interact directly with the energy plane through the sense of smell and wave resonance with vital chi that circulates through meridians and channels in the body.
Long Life, Good Sleep & Healthy Skin
Abhyanga is the beautiful Sanskrit word that is comprised of the word Aba meaning “glow” and Anga, which means “limbs.” This is the daily Ayurvedic practice of full body self-massage, which impressively benefits the skin. Ancient Ayurvedic medical texts reveal the advantages of a daily oil massage:
“It wards off old age symptoms and exertion, bestows good vision, provides nourishment to the body, equips one with a long life, good sleep and healthy skin.”
With a freshly infused, organic oil, you can strengthen the body, impart firmness to the limbs, tone and vitalize the tissues of the body, nourish the body, increase longevity, improve your sleep patterns, strengthen the body’s tolerance and immune system, and stimulate circulation. All of these work synergistically to minimize the cumulative effects of aging.
Ayurveda also teaches us that there are seven dhatus or layers of tissue within the body. Each is successively more concentrated and life giving. To reach the deepest layer, your oil should be massaged into the body for 800 matras or roughly 5 minutes. Thanks to the daily stresses we incur, we suggest the entire body needs a minimum of 15 minutes of deep and intense massage time. Lastly, don’t forget the feet. Massaging oil into the feet benefits tissues, veins and ligaments, alleviates stiffness and fatigue, feet become strong and firm, and is known to enhance vision.
