Lymphatic Lessons: Echinacea
An Education in Cellular Stimulation
The lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating cellular waste, storing and distributing fat and fat-soluble vitamins from the digestive system, transporting white blood cells to assist in immune functioning, and removing interstitial fluid from tissues to minimize swelling. In other words, it’s necessary and often overlooked.
ECHINACEA
In our Lâche-Lymphe tincture, which supports healthy lymph function, we’ve infused the formula with Echinacea, an effective immunomodulator that deals with infections and clearing of the lymphatic system.
To give you a glimpse into the history of Echinacea, the macerated root has a special relationship with Native Americans and their healers. For example, the shamans of North America would show off their exceptional powers and use Echinacea as an anesthetic, and the root was chewed by the Cheyenne during ceremonies to prevent thirst, as it stimulates the flow of saliva. And we can’t forget to mention that Echinacea extract was made into a patent medicine in the 1870s and introduced to the medical profession.
In Lâche-Lymphe, the Echinacea supports the lymphatic activity of Calendula by stimulating lymphocytes residing in the lymphatic system. Echinacea also supports Calendula by engaging immune function with a special extract highly enriched in alkylamides (alkamides). The extract used in this formula has the highest known alkylamide content of any available Echinacea extract. This can be experienced in the formula by the slight tingling sensation in the mouth if the liquid from the formula is held for 30 seconds. This high alkylamide content can also help resolve skin issues, lymph swelling, and protect aging bone.
