At In Fiore, we believe the skin is a sense organ and scent initiates healing. Olfactory Nostalgia is a look at medicinal triggers, scented memories, and the feelings that ensue when taking in a distinct ingredient.
Meet Vicen Akina, the creative director of VIOLET GREY. Given his 6-year tenure at the coveted retailer, Vicen has a keen eye for aesthetics crafting captivating editorial content, while simultaneously creating the brand’s visual identity.

Name:
Vicen Akina
What & Where:
Los Angeles-based creative director at VIOLET GREY
Ingredient:
Jasmine, Rosemary, and Lavender
Olfactory Nostalgia:
I live in a neighborhood of Los Angeles with roots in old Hollywood that was developed in the early 1900s after a Mediterranean hillside village. In the spring, the air is filled with the scent of jasmine, rosemary, and lavender, and every year when this wonderfully sweet, floral aroma begins to take shape, I’m reminded of the moment I fell in love with this town.
Perfumery as Medicine:
Scent is so primal, and perhaps the quickest way to connect with our soul of the five senses. Learning how to incorporate scent into our daily rituals to improve the quality of our lives can be so healing.
