At In Fiore, we believe the skin is a sense organ and scent initiates healing. Olfactory Nostalgia is a look at medicinal triggers, scented memories, and the feelings that ensue when taking in a distinct ingredient.

Jasmine, the confederate or Star Jasmine specifically, reminds me of when I first moved to LA and life was beginning anew and there were adventures to be had! The scent of Jasmine was everywhere and every time it blooms, which happens multiple times a year in Los Angeles, I’m taken back to a time when anything was possible and anything could happen and the only important things in life were making art, exploring my new city and all the opportunities waiting, dancing, and expressing my creativity and passions. I always smile to myself when that scent hits my nose, remembering who I was and reminding myself I am still that and to never lose her.
Perfumery as Medicine:
For me, it is a way of healing in remembrance of something. Scents can be wonderfully nostalgic, and the medicine is in the joy it brings, the smile it puts on your face.
What is your relationship like with self-care and scent?
I’m a total scent gal. My home is full of candles and diffusers. I burn incense every morning while I do my meditation and journaling. But I also like to keep them out on display because when it’s not burning, the scent of the incense sticks lingers mid-level in the air filling it with such a warm, grounded undertone. I’ve become quite good (I think anyway) at mixing the scents in my home so that nothing competes. Everything flows and everything complements. And that gives me joy. I approach self-care in this same way.
How has your beauty routine changed over the last few years?
For everyday, I’ve really minimized my skincare routine. I like a good 4-step process from cleanser to moisturizer (5 counting sunscreen) using beautiful products made with high-quality, effective ingredients. On the other hand, I’ve completely maximized my body and hair care!
