Olfactory Nostalgia:
The scent of lavender defines the happiest moments of my childhood. We used to spend our summer holidays in Bodrum, a little fisherman town in the south of Turkey (which was totally unspoiled in the ’80s). I would cut a few stems that would dry in our living room. I loved watching while the stems would dry, but the petals always retained their stunning blue-purple color. I associate feelings of joy when I smell lavender. It’s a peacefully abundant plant, easy, but can surprise us its scent as it pops up unexpectedly.
