Julie's Medicine Cabinet
This month in Julie's Medicine Cabinet, our founder details what she's currently coveting. Julie's picks for January are all under the umbrella of meditation, which she refers to as the "internal pharmacy." From her go-to meditation program to her favorite retreat, Julie's discoveries are the products (and experiences) you need and never knew you needed.
The 6-Phase Meditation
Julie has been practicing meditation for years and recently discovered The 6-Phase Meditation with Vishen Lakhiani. "What intrigued me about this meditation is that it is a guided sequence that hits all the marks in getting into the right mindset at the start of each day. It encompasses compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, and envisioning your future and perfect day. But the incredible power of forgiveness has had the most profound impact on me. Many people are in the mode of manifesting and have a gratitude practice. But, many of us don't make progress because we're harboring resentment and regret that undermine our overall well-being or outlook. It also undermines our ability to find joy and peace. Forgiveness is the ultimate antidote for releasing the pain of your past. And it is said when you're working on forgiveness, you're less likely to have compromised mental health."
Mindvalley
Another "internal pharmacy" pick for Julie is a platform called Mindvalley, which is said to be the most comprehensive website for human development. It's also the host of The 6-Phase Meditation. "Mindvalley is a website with an app where you can access numerous meditations and courses (referred to as quests) for growth in every area of life you can imagine. There's an annual membership fee and it has been worth every penny. I'm barely three months in and have several quests in the queue. My favorites thus far are Life Visioning Mastery- designed to help you ascend through the 4 levels of spiritual awareness (consciousness) and become more aligned with your true essence. And just in time for 2023, I recently completed Lifebook, a transformational lifestyle design system that guides you through 12 life categories to envision, plan, and achieve your life vision. It's your North Star."
Haramara Retreat
This retreat is based in Sayulita, where Julie lives in Mexico, and is what led her to move there this past year. "Haramara has been my sanctuary for rest and renewal for 17 years. It's a magical, unique property with 18 open-air casitas located where the jungle meets the ocean. There's no electricity or amenities, so you completely unplug, pare down to the essentials, and reconnect with nature. They also have a Healing Center with some of the best practitioners I've experienced, who have played a key role in the unfolding of my healing journey. Haramara hosts Yoga groups, but it's also great for couples or individuals who need a break from city life and looking to immerse themselves in nature. This place is very special to me. Should you decide to visit, you can find me lounging on the terrace there most Sundays, so be sure to say hello."
